The region, which is among the indispensable holiday destinations of domestic and foreign tourists, fascinates those who see it with snowfall now. Cappadocia, one of Turkey’s most important tourism centers, broke an all-time record in terms of number of visitors last year.

2023 Started with Record Number of Tourists

Record Visit To Cappadocia In The First Month Of The Year; The visit statistics for Cappadocia, which entered 2023 quickly and with a record number, were announced by the Nevşehir Governorship. According to the statement, 174 thousand 222 tourists visited the museums and ruins in the region in the first month of the year. The most visited place in the region was Zelve Ruins with 49 thousand 467 visitors, while the second place was Göreme Open Air Museum with 48 thousand 287 visitors and Kaymaklı Underground City with 27 thousand 113 visitors.

Based on January, museums and ruins in Cappadocia were visited by 123 thousand 244 tourists in 2019, 159 thousand 245 tourists in 2020, 42 thousand 560 tourists in 2021, and 88 thousand 677 tourists last year.

“Visitor Numbers Doubled Compared to Last Year”

Nevşehir Governor İnci Sezer Becel stated that they hope 2023 will be a new record year in terms of the number of tourists visiting the region, and said:

“The awareness of Cappadocia is increasing day by day. In the last months of 2022, we predicted that 2023 would be a good year. January revealed that this prediction was realistic. The numbers doubled compared to last year. I hope a new record will come every month.”
